Colourful Earth

Amazing how much diversity there is in the Earth. There are of course the gems, diamonds, gold, silver, copper and so on. But let’s have a look at the surface; the enormous variations in soils. Not only the difference in sizes of soil particles but also the colours.

What we show over here are just a few examples providing you with the idea of the wide range of colours (Yvonne de Wit has literally hundreds of different colours; all samples on different locations within South Africa) and sizes varying from a few thousands of a millimeter to a few millimeters. Yvonne does her size-grading with a fluidisation process.

The rings are a combination of Sterling Silver and Copper plus Soil. all ‘ingredients’ are from South Africa.
